On April 17th, Africana Studies is hosting filmmaker Zadi Zokou; this event is cosponsored by the student group LACSA. Zadi Zokou’s documentary Black N Black explores the relationship between African Americans and African immigrants to the United States and was filmed in the US, Ghana and Ivory Coast.
Although both communities originated from the African continent, their view of each other is often fueled by stereotypes and misconceptions. Their interactions are limited and complicated by profound social and historical issues, such as their relationships with Whites or the alleged complicity of Africans in the Slave Trade, presenting challenges to their solidarity.
